Summary
The Environmental Manager will ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulatory programs for the Chesapeake facility and assigned Virginia/Kentucky AgriBusiness facilities. This position will provide technical support on environmental and regulatory issues to facility and operational managers and supervisors.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop an understanding of and support compliance with various environmental compliance programs for the Chesapeake, VA site and regional satellite facilities located in Virginia and Kentucky (Programs include stormwater, air quality, wastewater, SPCC, FRP, VRP, EPCRA, RCRA). Assist with developing and securing new or updated permits and plans in coordination with the Regional Environmental Manager.
- Complete permit-required inspections and related regulatory submittals on a timely, accurate, and consistent basis.
- Monitor developing changes in the environmental landscape to include new and updated regulations to position PAB for continued excellence in compliance.
- Provide direction and guidance to facility and operational leaders on environmental matters and develop a working knowledge of site operations and processes.
- Oversee and participate in implementing and maintaining BMPs (Best Management Practices) for stormwater controls and conducting routine stormwater and wastewater sampling.
- Update and present environmental training materials to facility associates and management. Document and organize environmental records such as permits, regulatory communications, inspections, and production data electronically and in hard copy, as appropriate.
Minimum Education
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or Biological Sciences
Experience Requirements
- 5+ years of work experience in the environmental field
- Valid Drivers License
- Maintain visual opacity Method 9 certification (smoke school provided semiannually)
- Ability to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential)
- Understanding of local, state, and federal environmental regulations
- Understanding of standard software applications for word processing and spreadsheets
- Strong communication, organization, math, and analytical skills
